What is Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a program designed to encourage students to read independently.  AR tests student comprehension of books they have read, using an online computer program.

Your child is assigned a point goal based on their grade level and minutes expected to be read each day.  This goal increases each 9 weeks. You may contact your child’s teacher to learn your child’s goal.

Every 9 weeks there is a reward.  The top point earner in each classroom will also receive a certificate and a choice of a book .

There is a mural in the front hall, celebrating AR success.
